The papers include Silas C. Carpenter’s Bronze Star citation for distinctive service as captain, 19th Field Battalion (Field Artillery) in connection with military operations against the enemy from 13 July – 31 December 1944 in Europe. About Silas Carl Carpenter Silas C. Carpenter from Richford, VT, graduated from Norwich University with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1933. During World War II, he served with the 19th Field Battalion, 5th Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also served in the Vermont National Guard, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Post-war, Silas Carpenter worked for the State of Vermont as a utilities engineer. He married Jean Harman and the couple has two daughters. Search Terms
