About Clarence Farman Willey
Clarence Willey was born in Island Pond, VT on 24 December 1907. He attended Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1932 with a B.A. degree. Willey then attended Princeton University, earning an M.A. degree in 1933 and a Ph.D. in 1936. Clarence Willey served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of Norwich University’s department of education and psychology from 1936 to 1973 and was chairman of the department for many years. Willey also served as a testing consultant for Vermont’s department of personnel. Upon his retirement from Norwich in 1973, he taught at Royalton College and Vermont Law School. He was married to Florence Hartwell Willey (d. 1991) for more than fifty years.
