About the Collection
The collection consists primarily of the files created and accrued by Arthur E. Winslow during his tenure as dean (academic affairs) at Norwich University, 1932-1945. There are records of the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program in this collection. During World War II, Norwich University trained aircrew for the 56th Detachment, Army Air Force, and also trained soldiers in the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program (ASTRP or ASTP). About Arthur Ellsworth Winslow
Arthur Winslow graduated with the Norwich University class of 1898. He worked as head of the department of civil engineering at Norwich University from 1900-1932 and became dean of the university in 1932, serving in that office until 1946. He served Norwich University for forty-six years and was given an honorary doctor of science degree in 1950. Arthur Winslow married Lois Tarbell (d.1964) and the couple had one daughter.
