Lewis to his twin brother Harold and his parents David and Dorothy Lewis while serving with the Army in Vietnam, 1969. There are several photographs of Howard, his brother Harold and the Lewis family, 1964-1966. Also included is a file of information pertaining to the dedication of the Lt. Col. Howard C. Lewis Memorial Chapel at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, VT, in 1988. There is additional biographical information on Howard C. Lewis in the control file included with the collection.
About Howard C. Lewis
Howard C. Lewis graduated from Norwich University in 1966 with a degree in business administration. Following his graduation, he served in the Army’s armored branch. In 1969 he was transferred to Southeast Asia, and was assigned as a cavalry troop commander and battalion staff officer in Vietnam. Lewis was cited seven times for bravery for his service in Vietnam and was also awarded the Soldier’s Medal, five Bronze Stars, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, two Army Commendation medals and the Vermont Medal of Merit. Following his return from Vietnam, he joined the Vermont National Guard, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. Howard C. Lewis died in 1987, leaving a wife, Sandra Roscoe Lewis, and two children.
