The collection consists of course notes taken by Douglas White during his time as a student at Pennsylvania State University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the 1940s and 1950s. Additionally, there is correspondence, 1956-1961, 1992, 2007 and 2010, including letters from Albrecht Hussman. Also included are White’s flow meter patents and research as well as many of Douglas White’s published articles.
About Douglas F. White
Douglas F. White was born in Passaic, New Jersey in 1926. He received his B.M.E. from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute in 1948 and his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1958 where he later served as Associate Professor. He worked at American Standard in their research division from 1961 to 1968 when he, along with a few fellow engineers, formed the Eastech Company to develop, manufacture and market flowmeters. After the Eastech Company was sold in 1976, he served as a consulting engineer. Dr. White was a professor of mechanical engineering at Norwich University in the 1980s and 1990s. His areas of specialization included fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer. The control file included with the collection contains additional biographical information on Douglas F. White.
