About the Collection
The collection consists of Ray C. Kimball’s Norwich University scrapbook or “memory book” of photographs and Norwich memorabilia. It also includes his teaching certificate, a 1913 daily sick report of Troop B (1st Cavalry, Vermont National Guard), and several letters of recommendation. Topics of interest within the scrapbook include athletics, musical clubs, the small pox camp of 1912, Alpha Sigma Pi, and the death of Verner S. Belyea from an injury sustained at a football game against Holy Cross in 1913.
About Ray C. Kimball
Ray Kimball of Brockton, MA, played football and polo and was a member of the orchestra and the mandolin and glee clubs while at Norwich University. He was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Pi fraternity. Following his graduation, Kimball worked as an educator in Highgate and Swanton, VT, and in Maine. He later worked for the Swanton Lumber Company for twenty-four years. He owned and piloted his own airplane. A year before his death, he was attached to Norwich University as a flight coordinator and aviation executive. He married Cora Houston. The control file included with the collection contains additional biographical information on Ray C. Kimball.
