About William Moser Rumbaugh
William Rumbaugh, a native of Pennsylvania, graduated with a degree in civil engineering as a member of the Norwich University class of 1876. While at Norwich, he was editor of the Reveille and a member of the Alpha Sigma Pi fraternity. Following his graduation, he returned to NU as a mathematics instructor. William Rumbaugh eventually became a professor of civil engineering, architecture, and drawing. He also served as professor of tactics and military science, becoming commandant in 1880 and serving in that capacity until 1886. He left NU in 1886 to enter the employ of Western Electric Co. of New York City. He married Alice Thayer in 1883 and the couple had three children. The control file included with the collection contains additional biographical information on William Moser Rumbaugh.
