About George Yeu Son Bow
George Bow of Grass Valley, CA, pursued a civil engineering course while at Norwich University. He was a member of the musical clubs and the Commons Club. While still attending Norwich, George Bow met Sun Yat-Sen and, following his graduation in 1914, traveled to China where he served in several important military positions as a follower of Sun Yat-Sen. In the 1920s, Bow served as the chief of Sun Yat-Sen’s bodyguard company and eventually led his unit to defeat the rebel army of Chiung-Ming Chen, defending Sun Yat-Sen and his family in the process. George Bow was cited for meritorious service during the East Expedition. Following the death of Sun Yat-Sen, Bow led a transportation garrison team in the Northern Expedition. During World War II, Bow was involved in the establishment of the Tax Affairs Police Regiment to resist the Japanese and, later, helped to train interpreters working with the American forces. George Bow went to Hong Kong after the Kuomintang was defeated by the Communist Party.
