About Donald A. Young
Captain Donald Young, U.S. Army, served a five-year tour of duty as a member of the military faculty. He began at Norwich University in 1925. Young became well-known as “Joe Cadet,” author of a satirical series of letters, poetry and essays published periodically in the Guidon and the Record. Although Donald Young was assigned to Fort Riley in 1929, he continued to write occasional letters for publication until 1933. He was given an honorary M.S. degree by Norwich University in 1929.
